The photographer, born in 1941, grew up in England and France. As a young art student, SARAH MOON lived in Paris and worked as a model before dedicating herself to photography as an autodidact in the late 1960s. During this time she gave herself the stage name Sarah Moon. Her first campaign images for the fashion label Cacharel were followed by countless advertising shots, including for Dior, Chanel, Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake and Valentino, as well as fashion spreads for magazines. Inspired by photographers such as Guy Bourdin and Duane Michals, she evokes the narrative aspect of her artistic work from the very beginning. Your images reflect continuity and tell a story. With this approach, she not only creates an image of the subject, but also creates a symbolic representation of emotional states. Moon is always looking for a special reality: the fleeting moment, the boundary between becoming and passing away.
“Photography is the soul of all moments, the soul of the moment that you have just seen end.”
Sarah Moon
