Drawing Room Hamburg

The two art historians Esther and Alexander Sairally established the Drawing Room in Hamburg in March 2014. The gallery’s programme focuses on artistic practices referencing conceptual art and minimalism, showing national and international emerging artists and as well as mid-career and established artists. Visitors are encouraged to have an intensive encounter with current artistic positions from a wide range of genres aided by regular exhibition introductions and artist’s talks by museum experts, curators and art critics, with a particular focus on the medium paper.
With the Drawing Room, we aim to create an inspiring space for engaging with art and culture and to facilitate close contact between artists and visitors. Our goal is to bring art, artists and audiences together in a salon-like atmosphere for a concentrated exchange. Ideally, the Drawing Room should be an interface for encounter and discourse where art is negotiated.
